faith and family

A few days after we learned that, in addition to our oldest and our twins, we were unexpectedly expecting triplets, everything shifted.

The shock was real—for me and for my wife.

After sitting with the news for a few days, I did what I always do when I need perspective:

I called someone who had been there before.

A friend with 11 kids.

The big leagues, right?

I asked him if he knew any older, godly fathers who could offer encouragement. He scrolled through his contacts and named three families.

Only one was still married and raising their children together.

That moment stayed with me.

Why are families struggling to stay together?

Why does marriage feel so fragile—even among people with good intentions and strong faith?

Those questions led me to create the podcast Ordinary Heroes, built on two simple convictions.

First:

You don’t have to be extraordinary to be a faithful parent or spouse.

God made you as you are and entrusted you with the family you have. You are not underqualified.

As Scripture reminds us:

“Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

Growth doesn’t come from perfection.

It comes from faithful submission to the work of the Holy Spirit.

Second:

Parents are busy.

When I see podcasts that run 45 minutes or more, I often think, “I don’t have that kind of time!”.

I know I’m not alone.

That’s why each episode is 20 -30 mins max.

Not rushed. Not shallow. Just intentional.

The goal is simple:

to offer brief, purposeful encouragement that helps you grow deeper in your walk with Christ—without adding pressure to your life.

As Jesus said:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

(Matthew 11:28–29)

This space exists to remind you of something important:

You’re not alone.

You’re not behind.

And you’re not failing.

You’re carrying a lot.

And grace meets you right where you are.
